BOLZANO. The work to put out the fire at the Alpitronic, in the industrial area of Piani di Bolzano, will continue for some time to come, with the intervention of an excavator from the permanent fire brigade and several excavators from private companies. One will also be organized during the night fire supervision. This was reported by the Civil Protection which takes stock of the situation every evening.
The alarm was raised at the headquarters of the fire brigade of the Permanent Corps of Bolzano via the single emergency center 112 at 9.18. Forty firefighters with two revolving ladders, a hydraulic platform and several tankers were immediately sent to the site of the fire, reports Andrea Lazzarotto, deputy commander of the fire brigade of the Bolzano permanent corps. Since it was clear from the beginning that the fire was of exceptional dimensions, the volunteer firefighters of the city of Bolzano were called at the same time. In total they were employed around 100 firefighters of the permanent and volunteer corps of Bolzano-Città, Gries, Oltrisarco-Aslago and Cardano.
The flames broke out on the roof of an empty warehouse where several companies were working on a renovation project. The fire was under control by midday, but the shutdown operations are likely to continue for some time.
The alarm
The population was informed through Civil Protection messages at 9.45 and 11.30, broadcast by radio and television, as well as through a constantly updated press release and through the social media channels of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano.
For today’s event it was not necessary to raise the Civil Protection alarm with sirens blaring, as there was no imminent dangerunderlines Klaus Unterweger, director of the Civil Protection Agency.
According to the coordinator of the single emergency center, Paolo Berenzi, from 9.17 in the morning until around midday today, 214 calls to 112.
Air analysis
The first results of the analyzes carried out by experts from the Provincial Agency for the Environment and Climate Protection show that there was no significant pollution due to the movements of the air mass and the consequent mixing.
