Stepfather of Missing Boy, Alvaro Nugroho, Dies by Suicide During Police Questioning
A tragic growth in the case of missing six-year-old Alvaro Nugroho has unfolded as police confirm the death by suicide of the boyS stepfather, identified only by the initials AI, while in custody. The suspect was being questioned in connection with Alvaro’s disappearance, which began on March 6, 2025.
The circumstances surrounding the death are deeply unsettling, revealing a series of events that occurred during questioning at the South Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters on Sunday, November 23, 2025.According to a senior official,the suspect initially requested permission to use the restroom at approximately 6:00 a.m. local time.
“So, at 06.00 WIB in the morning, this suspect gave permission to go to the toilet. so it was as if he had urinated in his pants,” the official stated during a press conference on Monday, November 24, 2025.
Police provided the suspect with shorts, but he requested his trousers back after soiling the provided clothing. While changing,a witness,identified only as “G,” who was also being questioned,observed the suspect take his own life using his trousers.
“While in the counseling room, approximately from 06.30 WIB to 08.00 WIB or 09.00 WIB in the morning, a colleague found him with the initials G, through the key witness who looked at the door, there was a glass blade in the middle, he saw that the suspect was already in a position to kill himself by hanging himself,” the official explained.
Search for Alvaro Continues Amidst New Developments

On Sunday, November 23, 2025, police announced the discovery of a suspected human skeleton in Tenjo, Bogor Regency, West Java. South Jakarta Police Chief Commissioner Nicolas Ary Lilipaly confirmed the finding to reporters, stating, “But we need confirmation first through DNA checking and laboratory examination. Only then was a human skeleton found which is thought to be Alvaro.”

Her grandfather, Tugimin, confirmed her journey, stating, “We’re on our way now.
