According to a spokeswoman for Alytus County Police, Eglė Kačinskienė, the BMW unexpectedly veered into the opposite lane, resulting in a direct collision with an oncoming Opel. Following the initial impact, the BMW continued off the road, coming to rest near a local bus stop.
Several young people were traveling in a vehicle nearby and witnessed the event. One occupant of that vehicle required medical assistance following the crash, though the extent of their injuries remains unclear.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of the BMW was not operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. “According to preliminary data, the driver was sober,” stated a senior official.
