On the banks of the Croa River, 635 km from Rio Branco, the capital of Acre, a short woman with black hair, dressed in a brown tunic, welcomes a group of one hundred people who have just gotten off the boats.
“You are welcome. My name is Cíntia Flores,” he says, offering a hug to each one who reaches the mainland.
The 48-year-old Peruvian has lived in the riverside region of Cruzeiro do Sul, the second largest municipality in the state, for 15 years. In Brazil, she is over 30, since she fled the abuse she suffered from her stepfather in her native country.
Today, she is the owner of an inn and a spiritual guide to the peoples of the Amazon territory. Together with the local community, she has developed ecological tourism in the vicinity of the Croa river.
The way to this corner is done by boat, after traveling 22 kilometers along the BR-364 highway, leaving the center of Cruzeiro do Sul.
Upon reaching the shore, it is possible to pay for the water ride or take a boat ride along the river. Each visitor pays, on average, R$ 15 for the trip on the boats, guided by the local inhabitants.
In addition to the waters of the river, covered with small flowers and royal victorias, there are hundred-year-old trees in the region.
The growth of tourism there has aroused the interest of the State, which has invested in infrastructure. The road that leads to Croa is paved and since the end of 2022 there is Wi-Fi in the area.
