Washington imposed a ban on the import of aluminum And copper and nickel” from Russia to the United States.
The US Treasury Department said in a statement: “It is prohibited to import aluminum, copper, and nickel of Russian origin into the United States, except as provided by law or determined by licensing.”
The statement indicated, “These restrictions do not affect imports of copper, aluminum, and nickel from the Russian Federation, which occurred before April 13.”
In this context, the Russian Ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, stated that “the decision of the United States of America to impose a ban on the import of Russian aluminum, copper, and nickel is considered an unjustified and politicized decision.”
Antonov said: “This action is not even a ‘shot in the leg,’ but just a ‘random shooting.’”
He added, “Washington’s decision is most likely based on reports that resource prices will not rise significantly in the United States itself,” pointing out that “the American administration easily creates imbalances in the performance of global markets by involving countries subject to it in sanctions.”
Moscow continually asserts that “the sanctions imposed against Russia are illegal, unfair, destructive, and disgraceful to those who imposed them.”
