Addressing the ceremony which included professors, graduates and post-graduate students, the education minister added that ‘we should not teach the lie to the students in India that Columbus discovered America, there is no use for the students in India to know this, if If they have to teach it, they should explain how when Columbus arrived in America, his people tortured the natives and tried to destroy them because they worshiped nature.
The education minister further said that how the natives were killed and their views changed, but all this is not taught to the students in India instead they are taught that America was discovered by Columbus, most of all. First, an Indian sailor managed to reach the shores of America and Indian merchants were trading with Americans from the eleventh century AD.
