The US Civil Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that it has opened an investigation against Boeing to determine whether it has conducted the required inspections on all of its 787 “Dreamliner” aircraft and whether company employees have falsified documents related to this aircraft.
“In particular, the investigation seeks to determine whether Boeing properly conducted mandatory wing-to-fuselage inspections on certain 787 Dreamliner aircraft,” the department said in an email.
She added that she was “investigating to determine whether company employees had forged documents related to the plane.”
According to the letter, “the administration opened this investigation after Boeing informed it in April that it may not have performed the required inspections.”
The Federal Aviation Administration explained that “Boeing is re-inspecting all of its 787 aircraft that are still in production, and it must also develop a plan to take care of the fleet in service.”
