American scientists have developed a vaccine for bone healing

It is based on the use of messenger RNA

Healing of bones after fractures is a very complex process. At the moment, the possibilities for recovery are limited, but specialists from the United States managed to create a tool that will facilitate this process in the future.

The work of scientists from the American Mayo Clinic was published in the journal Science Advances. US specialists, together with Dutch and German colleagues, have created a vaccine based on messenger RNA. It can stimulate bone healing.

It is noted that in case of damage, bone tissue is restored in two ways: due to direct formation from mesenchymal stromal cells (a type of stem cells) or due to endochondral ossification, that is, the formation of cartilage, which subsequently becomes ossified. Experts emphasize that in case of failures in these mechanisms or other disorders in the body, fractures may not heal, which in some cases even leads to amputation.

Scientists have managed to create a new way to treat such cases. According to the work, their method uses messenger RNA, which can stimulate the restoration of bone tissue. At the moment, researchers have tested the drug only on rats, but it has already shown high safety and efficacy even with just one dose.
