Ampel-Minister: Who started right away, who takes over today – domestic politics

Some ministers got to work straight away, others start this Thursday.

The new health minister Karl Lauterbach (58, SPD) took over the official business on Wednesday and got straight to work. According to BILD information, he called a group of department heads, received reports from the ministry and was “very focused”.

► Also Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (63, SPD) starts right away on Wednesday. In the evening, after giving numerous interviews, he called the new federal cabinet together for its first meeting.

Today he returns to his old place of work, the Ministry of Finance. There he officially hands over the house to his successor Christian Lindner (42, FDP). Later he will chair the meeting of prime ministers for the first time.

Tomorrow he’s going to France too – to see Emmanuel Macron (43) in Paris.

► The Foreign Minister probably has the busiest schedule Annalena Baerbock (40, Greens): On Wednesday evening, she was brought to Paris on a government plane. Here she meets her French colleague Jean-Yves Le Drian today. Then she takes the train to Brussels. There are talks with the EU foreign affairs officer Josep Borrell, the US climate protection officer John Kerry and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on the program.

On Friday Baerbock will travel to Warsaw. Among other things, she wants to discuss the situation between Russia and Ukraine, the fight against climate change and the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border with her Polish counterparts.

► Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (51, SPD) travels to Brussels on Thursday to attend the meeting of EU interior ministers. Among other things, it will deal with the fight against organized crime, as well as migration and the fight against terrorism.

► The Family Ministry takes over on Thursday afternoon Anne Spiegel (40, Greens) from Christine Lambrecht (56, SPD), who most recently had two ministries in her hand with family and justice and now heads the Ministry of Defense.

► The Ministry of Justice will also hand over Lambrecht on Thursday – to the FDP politician Marco Buschmann (44, FDP).
