A young man on the autistic spectrum was severely beaten yesterday (Sunday) on a bus by a stranger. This is reported on the Ynet website.

Liam, 22 years old, was attacked while traveling by bus from Kiryat Ono to his home.

“One of the passengers shouted at him for no reason,” said his mother Tali. “Liam got up to ring the bell because he was supposed to get off at the next stop, and this person just dragged him all over the bus without anyone intervening. When the door opened, he kicked him in the back, took him off the bus, followed him and continued to hit all parts of his body.” The young man was attacked just one stop before his home, when a stranger hit him and threw a brick at him.

According to the mother, “Liam is an eloquent guy, 1.87 meters, who could, in terms of his physical data, overpower this person – but he did nothing. He just wanted to get home.”

The Afikim company responded: “We checked the security cameras and from watching them it is not possible to notice any special feature inside the bus that required the driver’s reaction, except when the passengers get off the bus – then it is possible to notice a passenger kicking another passenger outside the bus, away from the driver’s eye. The incident as told by the young man’s mother took place outside the bus.
