An employee of a financial company in the city of La Plata was arrested accused of simulating a bank leak. The 32-year-old man, a former police officer of the Buenos Aires Province Police, denounced that he had been the victim of motorcycles that assaulted him and stole 7 million pesos from his work. However, they discovered that it was a lie and he ended up in jail.

The story began on Tuesday the 27th, when Santiago D. appeared at the 4th Police Station headquarters, where he assured that two people who were on a motorcycle had approached him while he was driving his car through the 42 zone, between 25 and 26, after leaving a bank located at the corner of 42 and 29.

The employee told the police from the La Loma neighborhood section that the thieves seized a backpack where he had kept nothing more and nothing less than 7 million pesos. That bulky sum of money belonged to the company Grupo del Sud, where the former agent had started working a few months ago.

The complainant even detailed the alleged actions of one of the criminals to get him to stop the march. “He pointed a gun at me and said give me everything,” was what he falsely denounced. He also said that inside the car, a gray Fiat Punto, he had another bag with another 9 million pesos that he had managed to deposit in the bank minutes before.

They found out it was a hoax and arrested him.

Initially, the Police opened a case labeled as “aggravated robbery”. However, due to a series of contradictions on the part of the complainant and other evidence that was incorporated into the file, they began to suspect what had really happened.

The first thing the investigators did was review the security cameras that are located at the exit of the bank, where the alleged victim would have been attacked. According to a police source confided to TN, at the time the man said he had been approached by motorcycles, they found no film record that could confirm that event.

After corroborating that the accusation was a lie, the agents of the Police Station carried out the arrest of the financial employee under the crime of “false accusation and false testimony”. However, the prosecutor’s office on duty ordered his release after a few hours. In the same way, he will continue to be charged and must be held accountable in court.
