The Zangezur copper-molybdenum combine issued a statement regarding the leakage from the accident of the pipeline going to the tailings of Artsvanik.
“Today, on October 17, at around 5 o’clock, shift workers of the relevant unit noticed a leak in the tail pipe and immediately informed their immediate supervisor, as well as the person in charge of the duke crossings.
The leak occurred from an upstream pipe. The damaged 1000mm pipe was emptied into the emergency basin, and the entire volume of the said pipe was diverted to an alternative pipe.
The company’s employees prevented the accident within 30-40 minutes. During this period, there was some leakage from the emergency basin into the river.
An internal investigation is being conducted to find out the details of the accident and assess the damages caused by the accident.
Information about the accident was provided to the territorial division of the Environmental Protection and Subsoil Inspection Authority of the Republic of Armenia,” the statement said.
