After “an act of cyber-maliciousness” which affected the public establishment, “the names and first names, the current or former status of job seeker” of the registrants are likely to have been disclosed.

An investigation was opened after a leak of personal data relating to job seekers compiled by a Pôle emploi service provider, the Paris prosecutor’s office said on Thursday. Informed by the National Commission for Computing and Liberties (Cnil), the section for the fight against cybercrime of the Paris public prosecutor’s office opened an investigation on Wednesday for fraudulent introduction and maintenance in an automated data processing system, entrusted to the Brigade fight against cybercrime (BL2C), according to the same source.

Call for vigilance

Pôle emploi had called on Wednesday in a press release job seekers to be vigilant, after “an act of cyber-maliciousnessof which one of its service providers was the victim. This is the Majorel company, the public body said on Thursday. “The surnames and first names, the current or former status of job seekers as well as the social security number of job seekers” are “likely to be disclosed“. However, e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, passwords and bank details are not affected.
