Interview between Time.news Editor and Game Designer from Fulqrum Publishing
Editor: Welcome! Today, we’re thrilled to have [Designer’s Name], a game designer from Fulqrum Publishing, here to discuss their upcoming hand-drawn RPG, FROM. This new title launches in less than two weeks. Could you give us an overview of what players can expect?
Designer: Thank you for having me! FROM is a hand-drawn RPG that combines turn-based combat with roguelite mechanics. The game follows the journey of Cyrus, a young hero who sets out to master sword and sorcery. His adventure begins in Micropolis, but as he explores, he discovers the ability to teleport between two distinct worlds: the human realm and a magical realm filled with whimsical, flying islands and perilous creatures.
Editor: That’s an intriguing premise! Cyrus has a remarkable ability to traverse these worlds. How does this teleportation feature impact gameplay?
Designer: The teleportation mechanic is central to the game. It allows players to engage in different quests and encounter unique characters in both worlds. Every decision players make not only affects Cyrus’s journey but also influences the fate of both realms. It creates an intricate narrative where players must navigate their choices carefully, adding layers of strategy and depth to the gameplay.
Editor: It sounds like the worldbuilding is quite expansive. Can you tell us more about the fantasy world and its influences?
Designer: Absolutely! The world of FROM is vast and richly designed, drawing inspiration from various cultures and mythologies. As Cyrus journeys through this world, he encounters different factions that hold differing perspectives on the unfolding events. This adds complexity to the narrative, as players will have to choose sides and make alliances, ultimately affecting the outcome of the story.
Editor: I imagine that storytelling and character development are key components of the game. How do players interact with the different factions in the game?
Designer: Interacting with the factions is pivotal. As players help the inhabitants of both the magical and human worlds, they’ll gain insights into their struggles and motivations. This not only aids Cyrus in his quest to uncover the truth but also helps players learn about the intricate dynamics between the two realms. The choices players make will either save both worlds or lead to their downfalls.
Editor: That sounds exhilarating! What about the art style? You mentioned that FROM is hand-drawn; can you elaborate on that?
Designer: Our team is passionate about hand-drawn art, which brings a unique charm and personality to the game. Each character, creature, and landscape is meticulously crafted to create an immersive experience. We believe that the aesthetic complements the narrative and enhances the emotional connection players will feel with Cyrus and the world he navigates.
Editor: Certainly, visual storytelling can significantly elevate a game. As the launch date approaches, what are you most excited about for players to experience?
Designer: I’m most excited for players to embark on this journey with Cyrus and witness how their choices shape the storyline. The sense of discovery, the challenge of mastering magic, and the colorful world we’ve created are all things we’re eager for players to dive into. We can’t wait to see how different players interact with the game and make their decisions!
Editor: Thank you, [Designer’s Name], for sharing these insights about FROM. It sounds like a captivating experience that many are looking forward to when it comes out on consoles and PC soon.
Designer: Thank you for having me! We appreciate the support and can’t wait for players to join Cyrus on his adventure!
