The Anti-Smuggling Department of the State Revenue Committee constantly focuses on the cases of transportation of precious stones across the border of the Republic of Armenia, and also continues the fight against the transportation of cash funds across the border of the Republic without declaration. The other day, the employees of the Zvartnots Department of the Anti-Smuggling Department of the SRC, in the customs control zone of the “Zvartnots” airport passenger complex of the “Armenia International Airports” company, jointly with the employees of the Western Customs Department, subjected the RA citizen V. To Y., who chose the customs control “green way” procedure. As a result of the customs control carried out on him, an undeclared amount of USD 40,900 was found in his possession, and as a result of a personal examination, undeclared diamond stones of different sizes and weights were found. According to the data available on the packages and existing certificates, the total weight of the diamonds that are the subject of the offense is more than 70 carats.
Due to the discovery of undeclared cash in the citizen’s possession, the anti-smuggling department of the committee prepared materials with the features of the crime provided for in Article 291 of the RA Criminal Code, which were provided to the investigative department of the SRC, and due to the discovery of diamonds hidden from customs control, to the anti-smuggling department. employees separated materials with features of violation of Article 203 of the Customs Code, which were provided to the SRC legal department.
