What if we focused on white hydrogen, the one found naturally in the subsoil, which we do not need to produce? France is ready for this bet. It has just granted a first exploration permit in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques to the company TBH2 Aquitaine. Other requests are pending, in Jura, the Center and elsewhere. In June, white hydrogen was discovered by chance in Lorraine, during a drilling by La Française de l’Énergie intended to assess natural gas reserves.

A much more ecological resource than hydrogen produced by humans, which is called “green” if it is produced from wind or photovoltaic electricity, “yellow” if it relies on nuclear energy. or “gray” or “blue” if obtained by steam methane reforming.
