A big and influential figure in world sports is another person who stood behind the idea of Bulgaria organizing the Winter Olympic Games for youth in 2028.
The president of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) Ole Dalin is visiting us in connection with the possible candidacy and because of the conference of the IBU member countries from Southern Europe, which is coming tomorrow in Bansko. He is accompanied by Dagmara Gerasimuk, the Pole who is the development director of the International Biathlon Union.
Together with the president of the Bulgarian Biathlon Federation, Atanas Furnadjiev, the two were received successively by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, and by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Georgi Glushkov. At the meetings, the possibilities of the country to host the Youth Olympics were discussed.
The head of the world biathlon pointed out that he was impressed by the support of the Bulgarian institutions for such a cause, which, according to him, is a good basis for future success. Today, the heads of the world and Bulgarian biathlon will be in Bansko, where the conference of the IBU member countries from Southern Europe is coming, with the participation of representatives from 10 countries.
The guests will also visit the complex for this sport in Banderitsa, and they will be joined by the Olympic champion from Nagano 1998, Ekaterina Dafovska, who is a member of the IBU Executive Committee.
