The Catalan living in Mallorca Andrea Fraguasriding “Oldwina M”, starred in the surprise of the four-star national team belonging to Gijón Horse Jumping that has been taking place at the facilities of the Astur Equestrian Club since last Thursday. The test, in which 49 pairs participated, was an “A with tiebreaker” scale, a tiebreaker that did not take place, since only Andrea completed the first round without penalizing.

The route was demanding, as was seen in the development of the test, since Andrea Fraguas was the only one who managed to complete it without penalizing. A triple and the entry of a double in the final section were the obstacles that created the most problems for the participants.

It is true that those who accompanied her on the podium, Álvaro González de Zárate, with “Mr. Quincy B”, and Jaime Gabarrón, with “Fellow of Landra”, did not knock down either, but were penalized for exceeding the 79 seconds allotted. The time was another of the handicaps for the participants, it was very tight and that meant that quite a few riders and riders needed more time to complete the course and therefore were penalized for it. The most affected was Álvaro González de Zárate, since the point added due to excessive time prevented him from forcing a tiebreaker. Andrea Fraguas is getting a lot of performance out of “Oldwina M”, with which she has already won several events, including a Grand Prix in a one-star international, his most notable victory so far. She is joined by this Gijón Horse Jumping Grand Prix, in which she prevailed against high-level riders but who could not beat her yesterday afternoon.

The Funerarias Reunidas Trophy that opened yesterday was the first Asturian victory for this four-star that was held in Chas. It was achieved by the rider Isabella González Xie, who not only reached the first position, but also put three horses among the first six classified. The trophy, in which 124 pairs took part, was held under the “progressive difficulties” scale, which means that each obstacle awards a certain number of points up to a maximum of 65. The winner of the test is whoever scores the highest number of points in the shortest time.

Isabella prevailed with “Eberlin M”, which reached 65 points in a time of 45.69 seconds. Behind them, the Basque Daniela Cortázar with “Baila du Veillon”, who needed 29 hundredths more, and with the also Basque Maialen Ortiz, riding “Let’s Fly Carlotta” in 48.64. Isabella González also achieved fourth place with “Exiom Arloy de Beausejour” and sixth with “Garsina”. This test was the one in which the best Asturian performance of the contest was recorded, with five representatives of the region among the top 10.

The Astur Equestrian Club will once again host a contest next weekend with a five-star national team belonging to the National Gold Jumping League.
