The duo Andy & Lucas appeared this Thursday for the first time after announcing their separation a little over a week ago through this newspaper and ‘The Anthill‘, to expand the information in this regard after Lucas’ heart disease was detected, which meant lowering the work piston and, in short, stopping. The question is: for how long? They maintain that they assume it forever… for now.

After forming a quartet in high school, Andy and Lucas became a duo in 2003 and released their self-titled debut album produced by Alejo Stivel in May. The colossal hit of the single ‘Son de amores’, without a doubt the song that has remained most stuck in the collective imagination, caused the album to be released in Latin America under that title two months later. In the end it achieved eight platinum certifications for its 750,000 copies sold. A 20-year trajectory that, for now, ends…

“You all know the reason why we are there,” Lucas began the press conference, who wanted to say thank you: “We have something important and we are loved, we have noticed it. You don’t all come to remove tares. Thanks to the press for all these years. We have truly felt cared for. And then they went on to explain some details of the four farewell concerts that they are going to give in 2024 in Cádiz, Seville, Madrid and Barcelona. And here they have made it clear, in Andy’s words: «We are not announcing that we are separating, we are family. I see Lucas more than my brothers. We didn’t separate, it’s just that he can’t keep up with this pace of life. In 2024 he will be able to do 4 concerts. Health has come this far. If he recovers, have no doubt that we will return».

In fact, in this press conference that they have called, Andy wanted to make it clear that it has not occurred to any of them at the moment to do anything separately: «This has come as a bit of a surprise to me. He had informed me of everything before the summer. But seeing this last week, the truth is that he has been great for me. He lived peacefully without so many media calling me. We did not separate either as a musical couple or as friends, but he has to rest.

Thus, Lucas took the floor again and explained more details about the pace of life he led and that, even though he was young, he had to contain: “I am a guy who worries about things, I am passionate about what I do and my job. I have measured even the centimeters between the chairs, one sitting here, and the other. And this affects after years. It has affected me. I am 41 years old and have high blood pressure. And I’m already taking a pill for tension, for arrhythmia. “Anyone with half a brain would do the same thing as me.”

He also explained: «This tour we have to play with the adults. In 20 years we had never built the WiZink center. And I have a desire for concerts, of course, but I have to think about myself. He is going to go further. One turn and we stop. And if we are comfortable at home with a garden and I like this life… we have known how to distribute our money well.
