Around twenty farmers from the FDSEA of Pas-de-Calais and Young Farmers (JA) carried out operations this Tuesday morning in supermarkets in Calais to check the places of production of food products and alert customers to those coming from the foreigner. The farmers went by tractor to an Intermarché in Calais, where they particularly focused on the butchery and delicatessen section, putting up stickers “Young Farmers do not recommend foreign products like this”.
“We stopped the demonstrations 15 days ago now, with an agreement from the government to improve commercial practices with the Egalim law and on distortions of competition,” noted Antoine Peenaert, FDSEA delegate. “But there are always products with agricultural raw materials that we do not want to be produced this way in France and which are sold to French consumers. »
The origin of the products in question
“Two logos bother us a lot: the Made in France logo, for which the meat is not necessarily of French origin, and the French Meat logo. Today, we want to educate consumers to do their shopping with French meat, meeting French standards,” added Pascal Butez, farmer in Saint-Tricat. A similar action was then carried out in a Carrefour Market store in Marck-en-Calaisis.
Other actions also took place this Tuesday morning in Gers. According to France Bleu Occitanie, the Danone factory in Villecomtal-sur-Arros was blocked by farmers. Tires and manure were dumped in front of the factory entrance by the Rural Coordination, complete Actu.
Two entrances to the N124 are also blocked in this same department, without traffic being disrupted. Another filter dam has been set up in Laguian-Mazous – on the border between Gers and Hautes-Pyrénées, according to France Bleu Occitanie. At the same time, tractors crossed Tarbes (Hautes-Pyrénées) to reach Lacq (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) and Béarn.
According to The Dispatch, a Super U supermarket and another Intermarché have also been blocked since Tuesday morning in Negrepelisse (Tarn-et-Garonne). Farmers are preventing customers and delivery trucks from accessing these supermarkets, adds the local newspaper.
According to The Telegram et Actu, the Kernilien roundabout in Plouisy, near Guingamp (Côtes-d’Armor), is also occupied by around fifteen tractors. This roundabout was closed to traffic from 1 p.m. and the gendarmerie is present on site.

Faced with this situation, the Young Farmers and the FNSEA will be received this Tuesday afternoon at the Élysée. This Tuesday morning on the TF1 set, JA president Arnaud Gaillot once again called for “actions to raise awareness” about the opening of the Agricultural Show because “we cannot have a normal Show”.
