Anker’s 3rd generation gallium (GaN) chargers improve temperature monitoring

by time news

It unveiled third-generation gallium nitride (GaN) chargers, just over a year after the previous batch. The company names its new line of power supplies and portable chargers as GaNPrime. Anker said it has worked with multiple partners to create products that last longer and are more sustainable. He claims that GaNPrime is “the smartest, most powerful and most environmentally friendly multi-device charging system ever created”.

GaNPrime chargers feature the latest version of Anker PowerIQ technology, which can detect the power needs of each device connected to it and automatically adjust power delivery to each USB-C port every three minutes. Anker says that when two 67W 14-inch MacBook Pro laptops are charged simultaneously, the GaNPrime will reduce the total charging time by 62 minutes. It also states that GaNPrime chargers are compatible with more than 1,000 mobile devices.

Furthermore, a feature called ActiveShield 2.0 will monitor temperatures and adjust power output to protect devices connected to the charger. Anker says it has increased the frequency of temperature detection by 75% over previous generations – it monitors temperatures 3 million times a day.

Anker says its new devices are much smaller than similar offerings on the market. For example, it says the 150W 747 charger is 38% more compact than the Apple 140W charger. Meanwhile, Anker claims that GaNPrime models improve AC to DC power efficiency by 2% more. Anker claims that switching from old silicon to newer GaN semiconductors could also reduce carbon emissions by up to 30%.

There are six devices in GaNPrime’s initial lineup, all available starting today in the US. The 65W 735 charger costs $60 and has one USB-A port and two USB-C ports. The 615 USB power strip contains two additional AC outlets. It’s also a 65W charger and costs $70.

Next up is the 737’s charger, which has a maximum output of 120 watts and, according to Anker, can fully charge a 16-inch MacBook Pro in 1.5 hours. This model, which has a USB-A port and three USB-C ports, costs $95. The 747’s most powerful charger has a maximum power of 150W, a USB-A port, and three USB-C ports. It will cost you $110.

The 727 Slim Charging Dock is a power strip with two AC outlets, two USB-C ports and two USB-A 2 ports. Anker claims that it is 50% thinner than conventional power strips. It provides a maximum output of 100W over USB-C and costs $95.

Elsewhere, the GaNPrime range includes the 733 power bank. It can output up to 65 watts through AC and provides an output of 30 watts DC (that is, when in battery mode). It has one USB-A port and two USB-C ports, and it costs $100.
