Another 181 arrived in Chennai by private plane from Ukraine. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has also assured that the government will take a series of steps to rescue the remaining Tamil Nadu students in Ukraine.

Despite the NEET exam, thousands of students from middle-class families who could not afford to study medicine in private medical colleges in their home country are going to various countries, not just Ukraine and Russia, to study medicine. The current Ukraine-Russia war has forced about 20,000 students across the country and 2,250 students from Tamil Nadu to drop out of medical school halfway through their studies.

Another 181 students, who were rescued from Ukraine, arrived in Chennai on a special flight arranged by the Tamil Nadu government from Delhi. They were greeted at the airport by neighboring Tamil welfare officials. Another 181 were deported to their hometowns at the expense of the Tamil Nadu government. So far 771 students have been brought to Tamil Nadu from Ukraine, according to the Tamil Nadu government.
