Jony Ive, who once designed some of Apple’s most iconic products. The legendary design team he led has nearly completed its escape from Apple.

One of Mr. Ive’s former colleagues, Duncan Carr, has notified Apple of his intention to leave the company soon, according to people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be identified because the information is private. Mr. Kerr, who joined the company in 1999, was an integral part of the development of several generations of the iPhone smartphone, iPad tablet, and Mac computer.

An Apple spokesperson declined to comment.

With Carr’s departure, the 20-some-strong team that Ive once led will almost completely disappear. After Ive left Apple in 2019, top designers left one after another. The exodus of talent continued over the past year, with Bart Andre, Colin Burns, Shota Aoyagi, and Peter Russell-Clarke also leaving the company.

Ive’s successor, Evans Hankey, also left Apple last year. Alan Dye, head of interface design, remains, but his team has lost several members in recent months. The only survivors from the Ive era are Richard Howarth, Molly Anderson, and Ben Schaefer.

Most of Apple’s design team has moved to Ive’s design company, LoveFrom. LoveFrom is involved in projects such as Airbnb, Ferrari, and Moncler.
