The regular meeting of the cooperation coordination platform with partners supporting the development of Armenia was held in the government under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Permanent Coordinator of the United Nations Shombi Sharp. A number of ambassadors and heads of Armenian representative offices of international organizations participated in the meeting both personally and through video.

At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan made a speech, presented the situation created in the country due to the coronavirus pandemic and the Government’s measures aimed at neutralizing its socio-economic consequences. On behalf of the Government, the Deputy Prime Minister thanked the development partners of Armenia for supporting Armenia in this difficult period, emphasizing the deepening of cooperation with all partners.

During the meeting, the permanent coordinator of the United Nations Shombi Sharp, the director of the World Bank Armenia office Sylvie Bosutho and the permanent representative of the United Nations Development Program Dmitri Mariyasin made speeches. The speeches were about the assessment of the economic impact of the coronavirus epidemic, the risks of COVID-19, the UN socio-economic response and recovery plan.

The discussion continued in the format of questions and answers, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan answered the questions of interest to the ambassadors, which were related to the measures taken by the Government, the preparedness to face the possible second wave of the coronavirus, the solution of existing socio-economic problems, the process of developing strategies.

Summarizing the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Permanent Coordinator of the United Nations Shombi Sharp highlighted the importance of discussions in this format from the point of view of exchanging ideas on topics of mutual interest.
