Mayor Károly Zsótér (Fidesz-KDNP) said at the handover that an old dream of the city’s residents had come true with the construction of the nursery school.
Ten years ago, the municipality planned to help parents who want to return to work after the birth of their small child by creating a daycare center that meets all needs. In 2020, the city won a HUF 750 million EU subsidy for the investment. Due to the rise in construction industry prices, however, this would not have been sufficient for the development, which was eventually realized thanks to the government’s additional HUF 230 million support, the politician said.
Fourteen people will be responsible for the care and supervision of the small children and the operation of the building, which will create so many new jobs in the small town, the mayor said.
Sándor Farkas (Fidesz), the parliamentary representative of the region, said that with the new nursery, the range of services available in Mindszent has been expanded with a new element that is indispensable in a city.
The new crèche is a great relief and security for families, which will also greatly contribute to the city’s staying power, emphasized the politician.
Designer Róbert Kiszely said that the nursery school with four group rooms was built in the center of the settlement on the site of the dilapidated buildings of Városi Szolgáltató Kft., unsuitable for conversion. In addition to the group rooms and social rooms with 12 beds each, a kitchen has also been created in the two-story, approximately 760 square meter building. The building is connected to a playground with a paddling pool, steam gate, and games, and parking lots have been created outside the fence. The nursery’s energy supply is partially provided by solar panels.
The project also included the acquisition of the equipment, devices, skills and ability development tools, games, and IT tools necessary for the regular operation of the new nursery school. The contractor of the building was Hódmezővásárhely-based Építészmester Zrt.
