Alappuzha: Street violence continues to be rampant in the state. A student was bitten by a street dog while going to school in Alappuzha. A student of St. Aloysius School, Edatwa was bitten by a dog. The student, who was bitten on the leg, was taken to the family health center in Edatva and later to the primary health center in Thalavadi, but the vaccine was not available. The child was then shifted to Taluk Hospital in Thiruvalla.
The High Court has also intervened in the situation of street harassment in the state. The court has decided to hold a special sitting on the street person issue this evening. The government has also announced an emergency action plan for rabies prevention. The project is jointly implemented by the Health, Local and Animal Welfare Departments. Complete vaccination will be carried out in hotspots where strays are a nuisance.
