This tragedy has intensified existing concerns regarding road safety in Nigeria, where traffic accidents are sadly common. Just ten days prior to the accident, on December 19, 2025, Joshua secured a knockout victory against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a highly publicized bout in Miami. He reportedly used the fight as part of a fitness regimen aimed at preparing for future top-level boxing competitions.
The loss of Ghami and Ayodele is a profound blow to Joshua and the boxing community, casting a somber shadow over his recent athletic achievements. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the urgent need for improved road safety measures in Nigeria.
