A video has appeared online in which one of the organizers of anti-Israeli demonstrations at Columbia University in the United States, Hymani James, expresses an extremely negative attitude towards the Zionists, declaring that they “have no right to life” and must be destroyed.
He was banned from campus. The reasons for this decision were initially unclear, and it was not clear whether James would remain a student at the institution.
“Their existence and the projects that they have built, which is Israel, are all contrary to peace. So yes, I feel very comfortable – very comfortable – calling for the death of these people. Be glad, be grateful that I’m not going right now and I don’t kill Zionists,” James said.
James recently apologized for the content of the video, explaining that he “said the wrong thing” and admitting that his comments were “wrong.” He also added that every member of their community deserves to feel safe, no exceptions.
In his explanation, he noted that he felt “very upset” at the time of the statements, especially after facing negative reactions online, likely due to his sexual orientation and race.
In January of this year, a video was published in which James participated in an online hearing with university representatives. This happened after he spoke on social networks about a possible confrontation with the Zionist, expressing his intention to “kill him.”
In response to a question asked in the video by an off-camera official whether he understood why his remarks were problematic, James responded in the negative: “No.”
