The alleged fraud of one of the most veteran journalists of ‘Tiempo de Juego’ to his colleagues has shaken the foundations of the sports program of Cadena Cope. «Any help that is done from the heart is well done», explained its director, Paco González, from the microphones of the radio station on Tuesday.
According to ‘El Confidencial’, a collaborator of the sports program, Guillermo Valades, allegedly he would have kept several tens of thousands of euros to pay for an experimental treatment against a brain tumor with metastases in his back that, apparently, he did not have. The cost amounted to 10,000 euros a week at the headquarters of the Clínica Universitaria de Navarra in Madrid. According to what he has learned, already on medical leave, the journalist reported his improvement thanks to the medication, but warned them that he needed more money: it was no longer 10,000 a week, but 16.000because the physicians had decided to incorporate new drugs.
The money continued to arrive until last Thursday. That day Paco González discovered that no one with his name appeared on the list of patients at the Madrid health center where the journalist was supposedly treated. The journalist has been removed from the sports program.

Lama, however, has denied that he was funded by the program fueled by advertising and sponsorships. “There is no working capital, there is no advertising fund,” González insisted, revealing that “the sports newsroom has a fixed annual budget and we manage it to the best of our ability.”
