SCOTTSBORO, Ala. – The Scottsboro Woman’s League is hosting it’s annual Apple Annie Day fundraiser on Sept. 26. members will be available at three locations in Scottsboro to accept donations in exchange for apples.
### A Community Tradition Blooms
Residents can find the Apple Annies at Cadence Bank, the Jackson County Courthouse, and bruce’s Foodland.They will be stationed at these spots between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., dressed in their signature red tights and vintage striped aprons. Baskets brimming with freshly picked apples from Scott’s orchard in Hazel Green will be available. This year, attendees can choose between Golden Appetizing and Fuji apple varieties. For added convenience,the club also accepts Venmo payments.
“Our annual projects include the Apple Annie presale, apple Annie Day and Mistletoe Market,” said club parliamentarian, Cheyenne Bennett. “Through donations, the Scottsboro Woman’s League is able to provide scholarships to high school graduates each year and contribute funds towards many local nonprofit organizations as well.”
The association maintains a membership limit of 30 appointed members. each member commits to a ten-year active service term before transitioning to a sustainer role. This year, the club welcomed new members: Kaitlin Bonner, Elizabeth Clark, Ciara Word, Elizabeth Blizzard, Sara Grace Carson and Carleigh Glover.
### Leadership and Legacy
Six officers are selected annually to lead the Scottsboro Woman’s League. For the 2025-2026 term, the elected officers are: Beth weldon, president; Savannah Boykin, vice president; Colby Bradford, secretary; Holly Patterson, treasurer; Audrey Bergman, historian; Cheyenne Bennett, parliamentarian; and Lindsey Dill, chaplain.
Additional members contributing to the club’s efforts include Melissa Hamilton, Beth watson, Suzanne Chapman, Trish Kennedy, Marcae Arnold, Molly Sellers, Morgan Bone, Nikki Holt, Stephanie Gilbert, Kelly Blevins, Lindsey White, Callie Guillory, Ashley Campbell, Laura Teal, Rose Keller, tasha Mitchell and kadi Noble.
“I am currently serving in my tenth year with the club and I get a little emotional thinking of all that we’ve accomplished,” Bennett shared. “All of our members have families and careers yet still commit themselves to serving the people of this community. There’s truly no greater blessing than serving others in a volunteer role while getting to minister to each other along the way.”
