Apple iPhone 14 Pro gets excellent DxOMark score for selfie and video camera performance

In the DxOMark camera test of the iPhone 14 Pro, Apple’s flagship model received the highest score. With a total camera score of 146, it ranks second in DxOMark’s global camera rankings (just one point behind Honor Magic4 Ultimate). In addition to being second overall, DxOMark admits that the iPhone 14 Pro has the best selfie camera performance score in still photos and video, with a score of 145.

DxOMark has highlighted the iPhone’s top score in the new “Friends & Family” use case, thanks to its accuracy in capturing skin tones, its consistently fast technology, and its ability to reduce motion blur and contrast in rendering faces. He also noted that the iPhone 14 Pro’s natural-looking bokeh effect from portrait mode looks like a DSLR.

iPhone #1 in video recording performance with 14 Pro. It has seen improved smoothness, redundancy, and fluidity in its transformations. Stability is also excellent, HDR recording provides more contrast, and AF tracking is reliable and accurate. Quad-Bayer Image Sensor Apple’s processing delivers high levels of image quality and performance. Compared to the final processed image, the iPhone has accurately completed its preview image in the viewfinder.

The only major areas of improvement noted were noise and slight loss of detail when taking indoor photos. There is also a loss of detail when taking 3X photos.

Now DxOMark results for selfies. With a selfie score of 145, the iPhone 14 Pro is only one point ahead of the Huawei P50 Pro. The iPhone 14 Pro’s newly added AF capability and faster aperture contribute to high scores. The Selfie video was also excellent with a score of 154 for excellent exposure, color, and stability.

Front camera still images provide better dynamic range, exposure and bokeh. Fine details, subtle skin tones, and simulated bokeh are displayed in portrait mode.

Weaknesses of the iPhone 14 Pro’s selfie camera are noticeable noise in photos and videos in most situations, and changing and less accurate skin tones in difficult lighting conditions such as when the screen is backlit or in low light.
