Apple Sports App Expands Soccer Coverage, Launches in Mexico

Apple’s Apple Sports app is rapidly evolving into a comprehensive sports hub, adding expanded soccer coverage and a new market with its latest update. The version 3.1 release brings support for the FA Community Shield and marks the app’s debut in Mexico, signaling Apple’s continued investment in live sports tracking.

The expansion to Mexico is particularly significant, offering fans of Liga MX and the MLS Leagues Cup a dedicated platform to follow their favorite teams. Previously limited to a select few regions, the app is now available in four countries: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Mexico.

Apple is also enhancing the depth of data available within the app. According to a company release, the latest update increases the amount of information displayed in box scores, moving beyond simple score tracking to provide more detailed insights into match statistics. This reflects Apple’s ambition to transform the app from a “just” live score tracker into a more robust analytical tool.

The Apple Sports app has seen consistent improvements since its launch in early 2024. In June, Apple redesigned the app’s home screen layout and integrated support for tennis matches, demonstrating a commitment to broadening its sports portfolio.

The app is available for free download in the App Store. While Apple has not specified a timeline for further global expansion, the addition of Mexico suggests a deliberate strategy to target key international markets.

This latest update underscores Apple’s growing presence in the sports technology landscape, positioning Apple Sports as a compelling alternative for fans seeking real-time scores and in-depth game information.
