Investors are looking to the future
In hardly any other company is the CEO identified as strongly with the company as at Apple. The iconic designs of former boss Steve Jobs (died in 2011 at the age of 56) made the company great. Investors, investors and business partners will therefore follow any possible management succession with the greatest interest.
This was also the case when Tim Cook followed in Steve Jobs’ footsteps in August 2011. Today we know: the change was successful. New products such as the Apple Watch were introduced and the group’s sales more than tripled under his leadership.

Now, in an interview for BBC Sounds with singer Dua Lipa (28), Cook revealed how the giant company is preparing for the next generational change.
Of course he doesn’t want to stop yet, he makes it clear, dismissing rumors of an imminent resignation. He loves Apple and can’t imagine life without the company.

But he also said: “We at Apple believe in planning succession carefully.” Because even a top CEO could suddenly have an accident one day and it is important to prepare for that. Accordingly, there are already detailed plans.

► There has been speculation for years about who could be the successor. Among those listed are Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams and software chief Craig Federighi.
CEO Cook did not want to reveal who will ultimately follow him. There are several candidates that the board could ultimately choose between. “My job is to find these people and prepare them for succession,” Cook revealed.
He has a special wish: “I really want the next CEO of Apple to come himself.”
So outside candidates shouldn’t have too high hopes.
