The release of the iPhone 15Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max has been marred by thermal issues hindering the performance of Apple’s latest A-series chips, particularly when running high-intensity applications such as “Genshin Impact.” The lack of an effective thermal solution has caused the A17 Pro, the world’s first 3nm SoC, to hit a temperature wall, leading to uncontrollable freezing during gaming.
In a surprising turn of events, a Chinese content creator took matters into his own hands and shared a unique DIY solution to address the iPhone 15 Pro’s thermal issues. The creator, who remains unnamed, installed a heat pipe to enhance heat dissipation and applied thermal paste to the outer shell of the iPhone 15 Pro. Additionally, a large thermal conductive plate was glued onto the device to dissipate heat directly outside.
Despite concerns about the additional weight caused by the modifications, the results speak for themselves. After the heat dissipation modifications, the modified iPhone 15 Pro showed significant improvements in performance. Running “Genshin Impact” on the modified iPhone 15 Pro maintained a stable speed of 60FPS, and the overall score on AnTuTu also saw significant improvement.
The DIY modifications alleviated the heat issue, allowing the iPhone 15 Pro to drop 10% in temperature when running intensive applications. Additionally, the improvement in the 3DMark Solar Bar Unlimited benchmark test further highlighted the effectiveness of the heat dissipation modifications.
