On August 16, the President of the Republic of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, visited the lands of Askeran region and discussed irrigation possibilities on the spot.
The head of the country noted that in order to have developed agriculture and a guaranteed harvest, it is important to create a stable irrigation system, and significant state funds are directed to that goal. During the tour, being in the fields belonging to the communities of Nakhichevanik, Vardadzor and Ughtasar, the President of the Republic gave a number of instructions regarding the laying of a new water line and the construction of water catchment basins in high places for gravity irrigation.
During the visit, the president was also in the city of Askeran, where he got acquainted with the construction works of multi-apartment buildings being built in the regional center. Taking into account the existing high demand, President Harutyunyan instructed to carry out work on the construction of new apartment buildings in the near future.
Then, during the working conference held in the district administration building, Arayik Harutyunyan summarized the results of the tour, and the issues of drinking water provision of Askeran city and Khanapat community were also addressed.
During the visit, the president was accompanied by the ministers of agriculture, urban development, territorial administration and development and other officials.
