The United States returned 201 works to Italy that had ended up overseas in recent decades, sold by important museums, auction houses, antique galleries and private collectors. The operation was presented today at the La Marmora Barracks by the Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini and the Carabinieri commander, General Cultural Heritage Protection, Roberto Riccardi.

Of the 201 exhibits, 161 were repatriated and 40 will remain on display until March 2022 at the Consulate General of Italy in New York and the Italian Cultural Institute.
