Bangladesh Bank has said that banks will be open in some areas on a limited basis even on weekends before Eid. On the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, banks will be open for three days including today Friday (April 5) and tomorrow Saturday (April 6) in the garment industry area to facilitate the payment of salary and bonus to factory workers. However, instead of full-day, these 3 days, transactions will be conducted in the respective branches at the scheduled time.
Bangladesh Bank’s Department of Off Site Supervision Director Masuma Sultana said that on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, the related branches of the commercial banks are limited to the weekly and public holidays of April 5, 6 and 7 for the purchase of export bills and salaries of workers and employees working in the garment industry. There will be games in the range. The garment industry related branches of Scheduled Bank located in Dhaka city, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj and Chittagong will remain open on holidays by ensuring adequate security.
According to Bangladesh Bank, the office schedule of the branch located in the concerned area will be from 9:30 AM to 3 PM. Of this, today Friday (April 5) trading will be from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, the office will be open until 3:00 pm.
Tomorrow, Saturday (April 6) and Sunday (April 7), bank transactions will be conducted in industrial areas from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. The office will continue till 3 pm.
Bangladesh Bank has issued this directive in the public interest under the powers given in Section 45 of the Bank Companies Act, 1991.
