THE Mars achieved his third victory in a row, turning his record into positive (3-2), with the David DeJulius to give another performance (27pt., 4/5 doubles, 6/10 triples, 1/2 shots, 2 steals, 0 turnovers in 26:46) prevailed against the dove with 77-71.
Vassilis Toliopoulos (13pts) may have been slow to take the lead, but he was a cornerstone of the American guard, with both players filling his void Noley injured.
Peristeri was also absent, with CJ Harris stay away, and the team of Giorgos Limniatis (Koffey 19p., Carberry 18.) without strength in the final.
The DeJulius Show!
THE David DeJulius he was a complete protagonist Mars and the game against Peristeri, at least for the first half.
Aris’ bad start was 8-16, where he missed one rebound, after another and Peristeri threatened and scored close to the home team’s basket!
The rebounds at that point were 5-17 (!), with Giannis Kastritis shouting at the timeout, saying that he fell asleep, watching the effort of his players.
With the restart of the game, Aris went on a 10-0 run, and Julius was throwing… fires (19 points in the first half).
The awe-inspiring rival Peristeri was the Chris Coffey (13 points in the same period), while Peristeri still relies on two directions, rather than three directions (2/11).
Aris managed to escape with up to five points (38-33).
The counter attack on Peristeri
At the start of the 3rd period, Peristeri went 2-11 alone and pulled away (thanks to a three pointer by Poulianitis) with 46-40.
The guests, just before the end, were separated by a difference of eight points (45-53), with the Yannis gastritis getting a technical penalty and being angry. In the final stage of the quarter, DeJulius scored his first basket (three pointer) after
He started with a 5-0 streak Mars the final quarter, and the game is on before quarter time is up… X!
When Aris got some more… scoring teammates, that’s when he took a double-digit lead for the first time. Sometimes Lazevski, sometimes Hatzidakis and of course the Vasilis Toliopoulos (with a three-pointer from 7.5 meters) made the score 72-61. With Peristeri scoring 56-57, only shots!
Nothing will change until the finale. Mainly because of her failure Peristeriouwho continued to score from the line of scrimmage alone.
Just before the game entered the last 45 seconds, a floater by De Julius (27 points) almost “locked” the victory for the home team.
“I’m here”
After the end of the game, of Julius asked about the interest of Maccabi Tel Aviv. His response was … diplomatic.
“I’m here, I always try to give my best”, he said and continued, talking about his appearance: “I try to work hard, to be a team player. Credit goes to team.”
The topic “Of Julius” was also spoken by Yannis gastritisexplaining “I have no comment on this. Nothing official or tangible. They sound different, I don’t need to hide behind my finger, but at the moment as the coach of the team I don’t have the slightest official information about the smallest one“, said his coach Mars.

Time.news Editor: Welcome to Time.news, and today, we have the pleasure of speaking with basketball expert Michalis Giulenoglou from Eurohoops. Michalis, thanks for joining us to discuss the recent game between Mars and Peristeri where Mars clinched their third consecutive victory with a score of 77-71. What did you think of David DeJulius’s performance in this game?
Michalis Giulenoglou: Thank you for having me! David DeJulius was phenomenal. He scored 27 points with impressive shooting stats—4 out of 5 on double shots and 6 out of 10 from three-point range. His control of the game was evident, especially in the first half where he really set the tone for Mars.
Time.news Editor: Absolutely, scoring almost half of Mars’s points is no small feat. Can you elaborate on how DeJulius managed to take control during the game after a challenging start for Mars?
Michalis Giulenoglou: Sure! The game started rough for Mars, falling behind 8-16, and they were struggling with rebounds, being out-rebounded 5-17 at one point. This prompted Coach Giannis Kastritis to call a timeout. After the timeout, they refocused and launched a 10-0 run. DeJulius was instrumental during this stretch, scoring 19 points in the first half alone, demonstrating that he can handle pressure and lead the team effectively.
Time.news Editor: It’s interesting how momentum can shift so quickly in basketball. Speaking of momentum, how did Peristeri respond, particularly with players like Chris Coffey stepping up?
Michalis Giulenoglou: Coffey had a strong game, contributing 13 points in the first half. Peristeri played well initially but seemed to struggle with their three-point shooting, finishing only 2 for 11 in the first half. Their reliance on two-point plays was apparent, and when Mars found their groove offensively, Peristeri couldn’t keep up.
Time.news Editor: It sounds like the second half posed different challenges for both teams. What adjustments did Peristeri make that seemed impactful?
Michalis Giulenoglou: They actually started the third period with a solid run of 2-11, taking a lead momentarily. However, their inability to maintain that momentum due to turnovers and foul trouble kept Mars in the game. In contrast, Mars benefited from players like Vassilis Toliopoulos contributing consistently, allowing them to respond and eventually take a double-digit lead in the final quarter.
Time.news Editor: It seems depth on the bench played a critical role as well. How do you see Mars’s bench contributing to their recent success?
Michalis Giulenoglou: The bench definitely played a pivotal role. When key players were out, like Noley and CJ Harris from Peristeri, it became essential for the remaining teammates like Lazevski and Hatzidakis to step up. Their support allowed Mars to maintain scoring pressure and ultimately secure the win. With Toliopoulos hitting that impressive three-pointer from 7.5 meters, it showcased the collective effort that this team is beginning to build.
Time.news Editor: Looking ahead, what does Mars need to continue doing to build on this momentum and sustain their winning streak?
Michalis Giulenoglou: They need to maintain their defensive intensity and rebounding efforts. If they can minimize turnovers and ensure that their offense runs through players like DeJulius while also getting contributions from the bench, they will be quite competitive. The chemistry on the court seems to be improving, and if they can leverage that as well, they will certainly have a strong season.
Time.news Editor: Great insights, Michalis! It’s always fascinating to discuss the intricacies of basketball. Thank you for joining us today and sharing your expert analysis on Mars’s recent game.
Michalis Giulenoglou: Thank you for having me! It’s been a pleasure to discuss the game, and I look forward to seeing how the rest of the season unfolds.
