Due to a technical problem, Swedavia was forced to close the large, relatively new security checkpoint in terminal 5 at Arlanda on Thursday morning.

– We are troubleshooting and hope to solve the problem as soon as possible, says Frida Jones, press communicator at Swedavia.

Queues are currently long, passengers are directed to the security checkpoint in Terminal 4 and to the old security checkpoint which has been temporarily opened in Terminal 5.

Pierre Gewerth, who is on his way to Finland on a business trip, describes the situation as “frustrating”.

– Nowhere is there any information about anything, it creates concern. it’s hard to understand that they can’t use all the signs that exist, he says.

However, Pierre Gewerth will make it to his flight – thanks to the fact that he was close to the old security checkpoint when it opened and therefore ended up at the front of the new queue that was formed.

– It is of course incredibly sad that many travelers will have to wait longer than usual. However, it is difficult to estimate how long because people are now moving towards the alternative solutions that exist, Frida Jones continues.

The new security check was put into use this summer. Since then, there have been some operational disruptions, but never had to close the entire plant like today.

– It is unfortunate that it happens at this time of the day when many flights depart, says Frida Jones.

At 10 o’clock there was no forecast for when the fault could be rectified. What happened may lead to some delays, says Swedavia.
