Armed, but not dangerous – Hi-Tech – Kommersant

by time news

New high-tech forces may be recruited to suppress street riots in the near future. Scientists from the Kabardino-Balkarian Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences have developed a caterpillar “turtle” robot for the Russian Guard, which will be difficult for demonstrators to escape: the robot is equipped with an electric shock, mesh throwers and quick-hardening foam. It was named “Turtle” not because of its speed, but because of its streamlined body, which simultaneously protects violators from mechanical injury and deprives them of the opportunity to grab the robot and turn it over. According to SPARK, the patent says about two modifications – a high-speed “operative” robot (50-60 km / h) and a “shield-bearer” robot. However, the Rosgvardia was quick to declare that they did not order such robots and they are not of interest to them.
