The Russians set up a mortar firing position at the border between the forest and the field near the road in the temporarily occupied territory. The authors of the video did not say what weapon was used to hit the Russian mortar, but it is clear that it was hit by a high-precision projectile – possibly fired from a HIMARS.

The impact ignited and exploded Russian 240 mm mortar shells, and the Tiulpan was completely destroyed.

The footage shows that the Russian artillery position was likely detected by a reconnaissance drone, which helped pinpoint the mortar’s location and adjust its fire.

About Tulip

Self-propelled mortar “2S4 “Tiulpan” is designed to destroy enemy fortifications, manpower and equipment with conventional and special (nuclear) ammunition.

The 240 mm mortar mounts to the beams in the upper rear part of the body of the “2C4” tracked chassis, has a base plate. The hydraulic system is used to guide the mortar in a vertical plane and load it.

The main ammunition of the mortar is high-explosive mines “53-F-864” with a maximum firing range of 9.65 km and active reactive mines “3F2” with a maximum firing range of 19.69 km.

In the war between Russia and Ukraine, the occupiers use these systems mainly to destroy the most fortified fortifications, Militarnyj writes.
