The issue of the withdrawal of Russian border guards from Zvartnots airport has been finally resolved; Yerevan and Moscow are no longer discussing it.

As Day.Az reports on Wednesday with reference to the Armenian media, the speaker of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan stated this at a briefing.

“For Armenia, this is already a resolved issue, I don’t think there is any discussion here. An attempt is being made to present this process as a violation of an interstate agreement. It was an interdepartmental agreement, the purpose of which was to benefit the Armenian border guards in this area, to ease their burden. There is no longer a need to ease this burden. We said that we are grateful for your help, but now we do not need this help,” he said, adding that Russian border guards will leave Zvartnots until August 1, 2024.

In addition, Armenia and Russia are not discussing the withdrawal of Russian border guards from the Armenian-Turkish border, which they guard under an interstate agreement from 1992.

“There is no such conversation, this is not the case,” Simonyan answered the corresponding question from the journalist.
