Armenian companies can enter Latin American countries through Uruguay

On August 17, RA Minister of High-tech Industry Vahagn Khachaturyan received the delegation led by Uruguay’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Francisco Bustijo.

The minister welcomed the guests and noted that he highly appreciates the fact that Uruguay was the first to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide, in this sense, Uruguay has a special place for Armenians around the world.

The Foreign Minister of Uruguay, Francisco Bustijo, thanked for the reception and noted that many events in history have united the two countries and they still have a long way to go together.

Minister Khachaturyan, speaking about the success and development prospects of high technologies in RA, particularly emphasized the importance of public-private sector cooperation in the field and noted. “Armenian private companies are quite active in this field, increasing the country’s GDP year by year, but there is still a great demand for qualified professionals in the field. During the Soviet period, Armenia took significant leading positions in the field, as a result of which the country received a good heritage, at the same time, the educational system provided good specialists.

Francisco Bustijo, presenting Uruguay’s achievements in the field of IT, noted that Uruguay has really made great progress in this regard. the sector operates under state patronage and occupies a leading position in Latin America. Uruguay is one of the countries that use the most electronic instruments in the world. Francisco Bustijo emphasized the potential of Armenian IT companies and noted that Armenian companies can enter Latin American countries through Uruguay and take advantage of a number of opportunities available there.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay also added that in order to implement a successful digitization process, along with the educational system, the technical infrastructures are also important, the successful experience of which their country has recorded.

The parties emphasized the possibility of working at the level of embassies from now on, which will contribute to the formation of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, in particular in joint technological programs, digitalization, educational programs, exchange of experience of specialists in the field of IT, interaction of information centers and a number of other directions.
