The Armenian NPP and “TVEL” JSC signed documents on the supply of Russian nuclear fuel in 2021, which will allow to meet the demand for fresh nuclear fuel at the nuclear power plant.
Anti-vibration fuel designed for the ВВЕР-440 reactor manufactured by the Mechanical Engineering Plant (Rosatom, “TVEL” fuel company, Elektrostal) is supplied to the only operating nuclear power unit with a capacity of 407.5 MW in Armenia.
Armenian NPP is traditionally one of the country’s main sources of electricity. The plant annually produces around 40 percent of Armenia’s electricity. 2020 in the first three quarters, 1.8905 billion were produced at the NPP. kWh of electricity.
“The long-term cooperation between TVEL fuel company and the Armenian NPP is of a strategic nature. We always reliably supply the station with high-quality nuclear fuel, fully satisfying the customer’s wishes. Based on these principles, we are ready to supply it with Russian nuclear fuel in the future, until the end of the NPP nuclear block’s service life,” said Natalya Nikipelova, president of “TVEL” JSC.
Modernization works of the Armenian NPP are currently being carried out. The main supplier for the implementation of the project is the enterprise of “Rosatom” State Corporation, “Rusatom Service” company. At the end of the project, the plant’s efficiency and safety level will be increased.
