The relevance of the development of integration processes within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union and the expansion of the Eurasian Economic Union is more than obvious to all those who are familiar with the relations between the member states and regional realities, according to “Armenpress”, the Russian Federation said in Armenia at the 7th annual conference of the Eurasian Expert Club. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Sergey Kopirkin, referring to the 7-year activity of the Eurasian Economic Union.
“Russia, Armenia and other member states cooperate closely in EAEU, and since we are now in Yerevan, I would like to emphasize the constructive, interested approach of the Armenian side in the issues of integration development. “Armenia plays a great role in expanding EAEU relations with third countries,” the Russian ambassador noted.
According to Sergey Kopirkin, one of the important directions of the work of the Eurasian Union is the expansion of its geography by establishing ties with third countries and regional integration associations.
As of today, 5 states are members of the EAEU: Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Uzbekistan and Cuba have received observer status in the EAEU, and various agreements have been signed with another 5 countries – China, Iran, Vietnam, Singapore and Serbia. depth trade agreements.
In that context, Ambassador Kopirkin reminded that in Yerevan in 2019 leaders of Iran and Singapore also participated in the meeting of the Eurasian Economic Council held in October.
According to the ambassador, the economic benefits received by Armenia from EAEU are obvious. This is evidenced by the growth of Armenia’s mutual trade with other EAEU member states.
“During the first 9 months of the current year, the volumes of Armenian exports to EAEU countries increased by almost 30 percent, and the growth was recorded with all partners,” the Russian ambassador said.
