In a display of commitment to public health, Governor Alejandro Armenta reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to strengthening hospitals, improving working conditions, and ensuring a consistent supply of medicines and medical supplies in Puebla. The announcement came during an event honoring health personnel, held in recognition of Nurse and Nurse’s Day. What is the primary goal of this investment? To enhance medical care in Puebla and provide better support for both nursing staff and patients.
More Than 600 Million Pesos Allocated for Hospitals and Medicines
Governor Armenta detailed a coordinated effort with the Federal Government to invest more than 636 million pesos in the rehabilitation of 20 hospitals. An additional 439 million pesos will be directed towards 55 medical units throughout the state. This substantial funding aims to modernize facilities and expand access to care.
The investment extends beyond infrastructure. Authorities plan to procure 314,000 medicines and pharmaceutical products, alongside 1.3 million stomatology supplies, to directly improve medical care in Puebla and enhance the working conditions of nursing staff and the quality of care for patients.
“Nurses love life and were trained to protect it. Supporting them is directly supporting those who need it most: the patients,” Governor Armenta emphasized, highlighting the crucial role of nurses in the healthcare system.
Recognition of Nursing Staff in Puebla
Carlos Alberto Olivier Pacheco, the Secretary of Health, reported that Puebla is home to more than 13,000 nursing professionals. He affirmed that ongoing efforts are focused on building a more humane, accessible, and efficient health system for all residents.

During the event, recognition was awarded to nursing staff representing the 10 health jurisdictions and various institutions within the health sector, acknowledging their service during the recent contingency caused by heavy rains in the Sierra Norte region.
