Palestinian sources announced that they had arranged a meeting for representatives of the Palestinian factions to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip and come up with a common vision for the post-war period.

The Arab World News Agency, quoting Palestinian sources, reported that the Hamas and Fatah movements are arranging a meeting between them for discussion in Beijing tomorrow, to discuss ending the internal division.

The sources revealed that the meeting will be attended by members of the Central Committee of the Fatah movement, Azzam al-Ahmad and Samir al-Rifai, and the two leaders of the Hamas movement, Musa Abu Marzouk and Hossam Badran, and the main issue will be ending the internal Palestinian division.

This comes after Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya announced, during an interview from Istanbul with the Associated Press, that the movement is ready to agree to a truce of five years or more with Israel, give up its weapons and turn into a political party if an independent Palestinian state is established on the borders of Hamas. 1967.

Al-Hayya added that the movement would accept “a fully sovereign Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza, and the return of Palestinian refugees in accordance with international resolutions on the 1967 borders.” He added, “If that happens, the group’s military wing will be dissolved.”

He said, “All the experiences of those who struggled against the occupiers indicate that when they gained independence and obtained their rights and their state, they turned into political parties, and the fighting forces defending them turned into the national army.”

It is noteworthy that Israel had repeatedly rejected Hamas’ demands in the past, and affirmed that it “will continue its military operations until Hamas is completely defeated.”
