Stefanos Kyriakidis recalled his collaboration with Aliki Vougiouklakis in “Antigone” and the reactions that had been caused for the performance.

On Tuesday afternoon (12/03) the great actor was hosted on the show “Studio 4” Stefanos Kyriakidiswho looked back on his career, talking about his important collaborations, while also addressing the shocking death of his father.

The beloved actor referred to the great figures of Greek theater and cinema, such as Jenny Karezis and Zoe Laskari, calling them “star” and stating: “I have always won from our cooperation. I tried to understand them. There was a risk, of course, because there were also tensions”.

Among them, and Aliki Vougiouklakiswith which Stefanos Kyriakidis collaborated in the infamous “Antigone”. At the time, the “national star” had received a lot of reactions and “fire” from the critics with her attempt to play a tragedy.

The well-known actor shared his experience, initially stating:Alice was taken to be changed. No, he’s a star. They had gone out and written about the show, before it was performed. That was not fair.”

And he narrated: “I had said “no” at first for “Antigone”. I had jobs, but I didn’t want to either, the agreement code is different”.

And he added: “I find it dishonest that they were writing before the show went up. After the premiere the reviews started, it was not fair. Alice was a very good partner, Epidaurus was full, Lycabettus did not go well. To be fair, I think she hides a dose of arrogance on her part. At 62, you don’t wake up one fine morning and say “I’m playing Antigone”. She could be better. Someone had to stop her. You don’t start directly with dance, you start with the basics“.

“We went through difficult times. Wherever we went, we didn’t have a response, rather we had a response, when the show was over they fell on her” concluded Stefanos Kyriakidis.

At another point in his interview, Stefanos Kyriakidis spoke about his father’s death, stating:

“I’ve been going to the cinema since I was a child, from the age of five. Even when my father died, when they found out he was killed, they came and took me out of the cinema. I won’t forget it. He was killed at the age of 33 by a grenade. Now I am twice as old as he was when he was killed. He was 33 years old, I will never forget it.”
