The move comes after a twist of fate: Kai Havertz suffered a knee injury during Arsenal’s training session on Wednesday morning, altering the club’s transfer strategy. This incident prompted Arsenal, who had previously appeared to step back from the chase, to make a renewed offer for Eze.

Sources indicate Arsenal submitted an offer for both the player and Crystal Palace for the same amount Tottenham had reportedly agreed upon. The Gunners’ Sports Director, Andre Berta, and Vice Chairman, Team Lewis, met with Crystal Palace Chairman Steve Parish to finalize the deal. An agreement was swiftly reached, with Eze slated for a medical examination after the Conference League match on Friday, August 22, 2025, in the early morning hours.

Eze’s arrival is crucial for Arsenal, not only as a potential replacement for the injured Havertz but also to enhance the team’s attacking prowess. He will be Arsenal’s seventh signing of the summer. A clause in Eze’s contract means 15% of his transfer fee will go to his former club, Queens Park Rangers, whom he left in 2020. Eze has scored 40 goals in 169 appearances for Crystal Palace.
