Firing an Employee: Legal & Fast Redundancy

Team India head coach gautam Gambhir surprisingly defended MS Dhoni after a shocking exit from teh 2010 T20 World cup in the West Indies, a move unusual for a figure known for his candid criticism. The Men in Blue lost all three Super Eight games, leading to widespread blame directed at Dhoni’s captaincy.

Manny fans and pundits questioned Dhoni’s leadership during the tournament, but Gambhir, a member of that squad, pushed back against the criticism. “The fact that Dhoni could think in that pressure situation was commendable and at that time he was called ‘Captain Cool’ and what not. How can he become redundant within a fortnight?” Gambhir saeid (via ESPN Cricinfo).

The speedy turnaround from the Indian Premier League (IPL) to the T20 World Cup was initially cited as a factor in India’s poor performance, but Gambhir dismissed those claims.

Dhoni had recently led the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to their first IPL title just a week before the start of the T20 world Cup.

Gambhir argued that the team had sufficient time to recover, stating: “Just because we don’t show our emotions does not meen we are not affected by the loss. It is misleading to think IPL played any part. We got about 10 days after the finals, which is good enough to recharge.”

the 2010 IPL season concluded on April 25, with the T20 World cup commencing less than a week later on April 30. Team india played its first match of the tournament on May 1.
